- acceleration, pt. 3 -

Meanwhile, inside, the girls are talking in excited voices about the day's drama.
"Finally, a garage as outlandish and over-the-top as Alignment!" Kailey says. "I mean, Maura's was only interested in doing work and stuff."
Tara's not listening; she's busy swooning, her heart is racing. "I had no idea there were Asians like that," she says out loud to herself, in amazement. "All along, there's been a second stereotype I could conform to. I never knew I had a choice!"
But Kailey looks frustrated, annoyed. "That's gross. Come on," she says. "I understand you this way. I don't need an edgy Asian friend. I need a nerdy, high-strung Asian buddy. You know?" She punches Tara softly in the shoulder, appealing condescendingly to the sidekick in her. But Tara brushes her hand away.
"I don't think you understand," she says, getting to her feet and putting her hands to her head. "I need to think about this on my own."
